Homework
In general, your sixth grade student should be reading 30 minutes a day. This can include any sort of reading including comic books, informational texts, novels, graphic novels, even websites such as newsela.com. To find reading suggestions that match our units, visit the literature section above or the handout you received on registration day.
Homework should always be done by the student, reviewed by an adult and turned in daily FOR A GRADE. It is your child's responsibility to turn in their homework.

Simple Homework Overview
- Each week children are assigned completing that week's Vocabulary work as homework, broken down into the same assignments each day for the week.
- Any other homework (such as unfinished class work) is the child's responsibility to track in their planner.
- Keeping track of homework is a 6th grade milestone!
Vocabulary Homework Guidelines and Reminders
*Suggested* Flash cards: For Tuesday
Quizlet: Due Fridays
**Due to the weekly, predictable nature of these assignments, they do not have to be done the evening prior. If you know you have two practices on Tuesday night and are going to be unable to do your homework, complete your work ahead of time! Also due to the predictable pattern of your vocabulary homework, you know exactly what is expected and when these are due, and therefore, can turn them in upon returning from any absence.
*Suggested* Flash cards: For Tuesday
- On Monday night, students should make flash cards for each definition of each vocabulary word to use Tuesday in class. This could be 10-15 flashcards.
- Please have your child check the guidelines located in their google classroom materials under vocabulary and in their binder in a sheet protector.
- The Vocabulary Workbook pages for each lesson are due on Thursday. This is a credit/no credit assignment. Any blanks result in an incomplete or no credit grade.
Quizlet: Due Fridays
- Children need to screenshot their Quizlet page and upload it to Google Classroom.
- The quizlet page is due at 8:10am, when class starts on Friday morning and will absolutely not be accepted late.
