Good evening everyone,
Unfortunately I left the school early today and will be unable to go into work tomorrow. As of now, Sister Ann will be subbing for me. A huge thank you to her! Please let your kids know I will miss them.
In class, we finished our sonnets this week and are now working on some PEST WANTED poster. Please ask your reader about their monster! Next week we will be deep diving into mummification and the pyramids with some science and STEAM projects. Stay tuned!
Please note that Monday is a minimum day. Yesterday, three flyers for home went out: parent teacher conference times, and two student body flyers. If you can't make your PT Conference time, please send me a note or email me. We can schedule a phone conference or a different conference time that works for you.
Thank you so much,
Good afternoon and Happy Friday!
In case your kids didn’t tell you, I was under the weather this week, and it was a rough one. As a result, I was a little slow on the uptake on a few things. I’m so sorry if anything fell through the cracks.
This weekend my goal is to train myself on School Speak and get grades posted. I’m hoping you start seeing grades this afternoon.
I missed taking pictures of the kids at PE this week, but you should definitely
ask your student about it, they were dancing, and it was awesome.
Hello! Happy Friday!
Announcements: The children still do not have their one-to-one devices. This means that I will not be able to give them and google-classroom assessment I wrote for this chapter of our social studies. As a result, Tuesday’s SS assessment will be project based.
The fall Box Tops contest goes through Oct 5, but please send them in whenever you would like! I’m sure 6th graders wouldn’t mind a free dress pass, and I’d love a sweet treat party!
I will be at the Parish Picnic this week and would love to see you!
Below are pictures of the kids doing PE and indoor yoga. Also pictured are the debates the children participated in on Monday. Winners were chosen based on supporting their argument using evidence from the text and using 6th grade language. Enjoy!

I’m still getting used to School Speak and other school programs. Thanks for hanging in there with me!
A big congratulations to Justin: our room 16 school council representative and Darmin: our room 4 representative. All 5 candidates gave excellent speeches and received many votes: it was a tough race! Well done to all.
Next week starts STAR testing. Please send ear buds/head phones in with your child by Monday. They should not be noise cancelling. (That way, they can still hear teacher instructions.)
Back to School Night is quickly approaching (Wednesday, September 12)! The evening starts with a welcome in the church at 7, followed by two 20 minute sessions in the classrooms. This way you have chance to see both of your 6th grader’s teachers. Or, split your time among whomever you need to.
Below are pictures of a Think-Pair-Share. In this activity, the students consider a deep-dive question, pair with a friend, and share their thoughts. Then, children are called on to share their partner’s opinions on the question.
Have a great weekend!
Hello! Welcome to week one!
Homework week 1: Cover text books and bring back by Sept 4th.
Extra notes: Please bring an additional one-subject wide ruled notebook to class for Social Studies on Sept 4th.
If you have any of the following laying around the house, we'd love to out it to use for you:
Thank you for your donations! I was able to cut this list in half!
